OMG, is it your birthday soon?! For many people their birthday is a very special day and of course it's a day where your family and friends gather to celebrate you!
Over the years I've done many birthday photo shoots and I want to share some tips and ideas to plan yours. Minneapolis and Saint Paul offers many great locations to plan an outdoor or indoor shoot!
Why do a birthday Photo shoot?
Have you considered doing a birthday shoot or are hesitating about the idea? Hiring a professional photographer it's a great way to capture memories and celebrate your special day. Planning a birthday shoot can be overwhelming, especially if it's your first time. Don't worry, I'll guide you throughout the steps of planning a successful and fun birthday shoot.
Creating a Mood Board
Gathering inspirations and making a mood board is a great way to help you envision, decided and save time.
I am assuming you have a Pinterest, like who doesn't right. If not, I strongly suggest that you start there, many content creators and other photographers have pin their work or own inspirations where you could get a general sense of location, colors and overall vibe.
Birthday photo shoot outfit ideas
Once you have created a mood board, you will have a better sense of what you want to wear for birthday shoot. But this comes down to what your personal style is and colors of your liking. In general you want to feel confident, happy and comfortable with the outfit's you choose. Considered also how easy it would be to do an outfit change in public.

Choosing the perfect location for your shoot, will once more be based on your mood board. When you find the photographer of your liking you can share your mood board and together you will choose the perfect location.

- Balloons are essential to celebrate birthdays, almost a must! Get creative with your birthday age number as balloons, color scheme to match your outfit/mood board.
- What's a birthday without a cake, bring the cake or cupcake and YES the CANDLES too!
- Let's pop open that champagne to toast to yet another year!
- Confetti, is another great idea to make your picture come alive.
