Are you searching for great photo locations in the Twin Cities for your senior session? Minneapolis and St. Paul, as the nearby suburbs offer an impressive variety of stunning natural and urban backdrops, far beyond what you might anticipate! When discussing preferred spots with my seniors, I always encourage them to think about the type of scenery they have in mind.
Some ideas to think about include water features like lakes or rivers, natural settings with trees and flowers, urban landscapes in downtown areas, or locations related to school and sports, such as fields or stadiums.
When planning, consider the weather and seasons: In Minnesota, ideal Spring photography is the second week of May, Summer is best during early sunrises or the golden hour, Fall is optimal in early October, and Winter is perfect right after fresh snowfall.

2. Boom Island Park
The lighting here is amazing, and the trees are enchanting! I really enjoy finishing a senior session in this spot; it pairs beautifully with the urban vibe of North Loop’s artist district. Parking is available for a nominal fee, Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking shoes.

St. Anthony Main Street ranks among my top spots. It offers a vibrant city atmosphere combined with beautiful natural and water elements, making it an ideal destination throughout the year.
Street parking is available for a nominal fee, so arriving early is wise to avoid traffic. Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking shoes, and if you need to freshen up, you can either change in your car or use the restroom at a nearby restaurant.
3. Stone Arch Bridge
The Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis is a popular spot for senior photos, offering a variety of textures, cityscapes, tall grass, and river views. Great location throughout Fall. Even with the crowds, there are quiet areas ideal for senior photos.
Parking is somewhat limited, so it's best to arrive early and be prepared for a small fee. The Stone Arch Parking Lot at 100 W River Pkwy is a convenient choice. If you're wearing heels, you might want to change in your car for added comfort.
4. Mill City Museum
Mill City Museum, offers a rich mix of sights. You can see the contemporary design of the Guthrie Theater alongside the historic Minneapolis mill buildings, and the Stone Arch Bridge adds to the charm.
5. Loring Park
Experience a blend of styles in historic Minneapolis, enjoy nature, and appreciate the contemporary vibe of the Walker Art Museum and Sculpture Garden. Stroll the Siah Armajani Pedestrian Bridge for great photo opportunities.
6. Lyndale Park Gardens
Lyndale Park Gardens offers much more than just roses for stunning senior photos. It features four distinct themed gardens, each meticulously landscaped. These include the Annual-Perennial Garden, the Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden, the Peace Garden, and the Rose Garden.

Uptown is a vibrant area in Minneapolis, perfect for senior pictures with its colorful murals. Start at Lyndale and Lake Street near the Jungle Theater and explore the surrounding street art in LynLake.

Features a lovely bandstand, beautiful rose gardens, and scenic lakeside paths, combining nature with city conveniences. It's an ideal spot for seniors looking to capture the best of both environments in their pictures.
2. DOWNTOWN SAINT PAUL
St. Paul has many small parks close together, each offering unique charm. Irvine Park features a water fountain and tall trees, ideal for outdoor enjoyment. Rice Park has a quaint area with trees, perfect for photos by the marble stairs of the Saint Paul Public Library. Mears Park includes a lovely water feature, and Kellogg Park offers stunning river and city skyline views. Parking Ramps!

Como Conservatory in St. Paul is an ideal spot for my senior girls seeking a unique and beautiful backdrop. The amazing architecture allows me to capture a diverse range of bright and airy photos for you to select from.
4. Rice creek
Rice Creek in Shoreview is an enjoyable spot, particularly during the fall. It features tall pine trees, extensive grass, and a walking path, capturing the essence of northern Minnesota.
Parking is free, but you will need to change in your car.
